Gandhi was the leader of the Indian independence movement against the colonial British rule in India. He employed the nonviolent civil disobedience movement in India as a tool to fight against British rule. He was born and raised in a Hindu merchant family in the coastal Gujarat region. He was trained in law at the Inner Temple, London. To commemorate his birth anniversary the United Nations has declared October 2, as the International Day of Non-Violence.
Dussehra: It is a Hindu festival. It is celebrated for a period of 10 days. It starts every year with the onset of the winter season, during the month of Kartik, as per the Hindu calendar. It is celebrated as a triumph of Lord Rama over Ravana. Ramlila or the enactment of the life of Lord Rama according to the epic Ramayana is staged in many places across the state capital.
The play of Ramlila ends with the Rama shooting a burning arrow towards the effigy of Ravana.
