October 2, on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti; October 14, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; October 24, on account of Dussehra; October 28, the fourth week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; October 31, on account of Sardar Patel's Birthday.

Bank Holidays in Gujarat during October

All the banks in Gujarat will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including State Bank of India, Federal Bank, Vijaya Bank, and Axis Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays.

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti: It is a national holiday. His birth name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The day marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who is considered the father of the nation. He employed a non-violent civil disobedience movement in India as a tool to free India from Colonial British rule. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution and declared that October 2nd will be observed as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Dussehra: It is a Hindu festival. It is one of the most important festivals which is widely celebrated in the state of Gujarat. It is a nine-day festival dedicated to the goddess Durga. Each night, people gather together in open spaces to celebrate the feminine divinity and perform a dance which is famously called ras garba or dandiya. During the festive season, people prepare a delicious range of food items which includes Sabundana khichdi, fafda, besan burfi, basundi, Hara bhara kabab and so on.
