Bank Holidays in October 2024 in Telangana

In October, the Telangana government have announced 2024, a total of seven holidays apart form the four Sundays. Bank holidays for the month are declared on October 2nd, on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti; October 3rd, on account of Bathukamma starting day, October 11th, on account of Maha Asthami, October 12th, the second week of Saturday as a Bank Holiday; October 26, the fourth week of Saturday as Bank Holiday and October 31st, on account of the major festival Diwali for bank holidays in Telangana.

Bank Holidays in Telangana during October

All the banks in Telangana will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including HDFC Bank, Union Bank of India, Federal Bank, and Punjab & Sind Bank will remain closed on the bank holidays in Telangana.

Bathukamma Festival: It is a Hindu festival observed in Telangana state for a period of nine days. The first day of the Bathukamma Festival is declared as a public holiday in Telangana and this festival ends on Durgashtami, which falls two days before Dussehra. It is a floral festival celebrated by Hindu women.

Maha Ashthami or Durgastami: It is a Hindu festival. The festival is celebrated on the eighth day of the Navaratri. On this day Goddess Durga will be decorated elaborately and a special pooja will be performed on this auspicious day. People dedicate nine days of festivities to Maha Gauri, wife of Lord Shiva. In Andhra Pradesh, people celebrate Bathukamma Panduga. Women make flower stacks in a particular traditional style using the local flowers during these nine days and perform puja with them. At the end of the nine days, this stack which is made up of flowers will be set to float in a lake or any of the water body.

Diwali or Deepavali: It is a Hindu festival. On this day people wake up early in the morning, perform puja at home to all the idols and visit the temple in the evening to seek blessings of God. Special puja will be performed both at homes and shops for prosperity. On this day lamps will be lit to mark the festival and it will be placed outside the house and shops giving it a marvellous look for the onlookers. The skies lighten up with firecrackers at the fall of dusk. People prepare delicacies like Sakinalu, Obbatu, Undarala Payasam, Pumpkin Kheer, Kobbara Saddi, Gulab Jamun, Ariselu and so on.
