All the banks in Bihar will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. The banks will not perform the usual functioning on these days. All the banks including Syndicate Bank, YES Bank, Nainital Bank, and Bandhan Bank will remain closed during the bank holidays.
Chehlum: It is a Muslim festival. The day is observed on Safer, the 40th day after Ashura. The day marks the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad – Imam Hussein. On this day, Imam Hussein was killed at the Battle of Karbala located in Central Iraq. Hussein was considered the rightful heir of Prophet Mohammad’s legacy. When he refused to pledge allegiance to the Umayyad Caliphate, he was killed on the battlefield.
Shri Krishna Janmashtami: It is a Hindu festival. It falls in the month of Shravana Maas. It is celebrated to mark the birth of Krishna, the eight avatar of Lord Vishnu. He was born to King Vasudev and Devaki on the eight day of Krishna Paksha. As Krishna was born at midnight, people observe fast since morning, stay awake all night and offer bhajans and prayer. For Hindus, Krishna is a hero, a protector, a leader, a guide and a teacher – who gave lessons of life for all the individuals living on this earth in the form of the great epic Bhagavad Gita.
