How to find IFSC Code?

The IFSC Code or the Indian Financial System Code is an identification code used for the identification of a specific bank's branch. This code will have a unique 11-digit code. The code will be assigned by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and consists of a combination of alphabets and numbers.

 

The first four characters of the IFSC code will represent the name of the bank, the fifth character will be zero (0) and the last six digits will define the branch code of the respective bank.

The IFSC code comes in handy for online fund transfers like NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer), IMPS (Immediate Payment System) and RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement).
