SUVs and tractor major Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), on Monday launched India's first all-electric 4-seater passenger car 'e20' in Delhi priced at Rs 5.96 lakh.
The car was launched by Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles (MREV) and it will replace the existing REVAi to become the most cost efficient car to own in India.
E20 will use generation lithium ion batteries and have a minimum range 100 km per charge, which the company claims is adequate for most daily journeys within a city. Besides, the company also said that e20 is capable of using the futuristic ecosystem of 'Sun2Car' to derive energy from the sun to charge the vehicle.
Analysts said that with this e20 may drive into China also to tap the growing market for electric vehicles there.
Chetan Maini, chief of strategy and technology, MREV, said, "The export variant would be ready by early next year. We are looking at exporting the e2o to all markets we previously exported the REVAi to. We will also explore possibilities in China."
