The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) offices conducting government business and selected branches of banks will remain open on last three days of the month of March despite weekend to facilitate tax collection.
"With a view to providing greater convenience to the tax payers, it has been decided that all designated branches of agency banks and RBI offices conducting government business will keep their counters open on 29, 30 and 31 March 2013 to accept government taxes," RBI said in a statement.
March 29 is a holiday on account of Good Friday and March 31 is Sunday and last day of the current fiscal.
Central bank also asked the taxpayers to submit taxes well in time and avoid saving the activity for last minute. The service is now also provided online and through ATMs.
