Govt identifies 1.2 cr multiple LPG connections through KYC

The public sector oil marketing companies have blocked approximately 1.2 crore multiple LPG connections in the last six months through the Know Your Customer (KYC) scheme.

According to the statement, as an April 1, OMCs has identified approximately 75 per cent of such customers. This scheme was initiated to help the OMCs in identifying those who had more than one connection, said the media report.

However, KYC forms was only for multiple connection holders belonging to the 'Same Name, Same Address' (SNSA) category, which has now been extended to 'Different Name, Same Address' (DNSA) which identified a 2.43 crore customers under the DNSA category.


Moreover for the AADHAAR synchronization the PMO wants the Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Gas to obtain the Cabinet approvals required for the smooth roll-out of LPG subsidy through DBT, initially in 20 districts.
