The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has started integration of LPG customer database with other OMCs such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in Gujarat.
The integration is likely to be completed by June 2013, in order to cross check on households having multiple cooking cylinder connections, said the media reports.
The aforesaid integration is being done with help of indigenous software developed by the IOC named as Ind-Soft (short for Indane software).
The company claims that this software will help IOC merge all its dealers and supply points into a seamless network, as well as also integrates the LPG customer databases of HPCL and BPCL as well.
"Gujarat has over 60 lakh LPG customers. This integration of databases of the three companies will help monitor duplicate connections. So a household getting subsidised cylinders from one company should not end up getting another lot of subsidised cylinders from a different company" a senior IOCL officer told media.
The IOC has already suspended over 80,000 duplicate connections across Gujarat during the last one year.
