The 30-share benchmark index Sensex was trading marginally higher amid weak cues from global peers. The BSE Sensex was tad up by 61 points while Nifty was trading in green up by 0.03 points. On the global front, Japan"s Nikkei 225 down by 1.65 per cent, Hong Kong"s Hang Seng down by 0.26 per cent and China"s Shanghai Composite was down by 0.10 per cent.
Selling pressure was heavily observed in Sun Pharma, Cipla, Hindalco, Bharti Airtel, TCS and BHEL offsetting the gains of Tata Steel, LNT, ICICI bank, NTPC and Tata Power.
At 11:17AM BSE SENSEX was at 19735.6, up by 61.27 points or by 0.31 and then NSE Nifty was at 5976.9, up by 9.85 points or by 0.17 per cent.
The BSE Sensex an touched intraday high of 19833.14 and an intraday low of 19568.49, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 6015.3 and an intraday low of 5936.8.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 6375.04, up by 11.22 points or by 0.18 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 5979.79, up by 5.34 points or by 0.09 per cent.
On the sectoral front, CGS and Realty index advanced 1.71 per cent and 1.14 per cent respectively while Health care and TECK shed 0.94 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively.The Market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE out of total 1911 shares traded, 913 shares advanced, 891 shares declined while 107 remained unchanged.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 312.50,+4.34%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1454.40,+2.52%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1196.50,+1.96%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 151.00,+1.58%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 311.65,+1.14%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 983.00,-2.34%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 107.15,-1.65%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 295.70,-1.63%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1473.10,-1.39%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 409.25,-1.39%), among others.
