PM urges BHEL to initiate development of solar power
Pitching for enhancing India's energy security, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) to initiate in the development of solar power technology in India apart from its generation.

The PM inaugurated Rs 1,000-crore high pressure boiler plant unit-II, a greenfield initiative, and the Rs 300 crore power plant piping unit at Thirumayam, south Tamil Nadu set up by BHEL.

Dedicating to the nation BHEL's Power Plant Piping Unit (PPPU) at Tirumayam in Tamil Nadu, PM said, "The solar mission aims to develop 20,000 Mw by the end of the 13th Five Year Plan."
