Toyata unrest a further set-back for auto sector: ASSOCHAM
The automobile sector, already reeling under difficult time, will have further set-back due to the strike in Toyota Motor, says the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

The sector had just started to move on recovery path and, therefore, it will be in the interest of all the stakeholders to withdraw the strike and settle the matter amicably.

ASSOCHAM Secretary General D S Rawat expressed his concern over the disruption and called it unfair and unjust. He further stated that both the parties should try to resolve the issue at the earliest with the involvement of labour commissioner and other authorities. The willing workers should not be prevented to resume duty.

Rawat also appreciated management initiative sending communication to families of employees explaining the facilities which company had offered to its employees.

The limited operation which started on 18th March has resulted into less than half the production of the cars during March 2014 it sold only over 9,000 units against more than 21, 000 units sold during the corresponding period last year while installed capacity of both the plants is approx. 3.10 lakh units per annum.

Rawat said, the labour unrest are targeting the automobile sector all over the country though the salaries being paid comparing to other industry sectors, are better off.
