The Indian Government has said that it is considering around 19 proposals with an estimated investment of Rs 30,552.45 crore, media reported.
As per reports, the Government is considering proposals for big investments pertaining to sectors such as pharmaceuticals, information & broadcasting, insurance, non-banking finance companies and private banks.
Commenting on the issue, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told the media, "There are 19 proposals of big investments, each in excess of Rs 100 crore under consideration of government. Estimated investment in respect of these proposals is Rs 30,552.45 crore."
The Government is also planning to create Milk Grid within the SAARC region to promote greater intra-regional trade in milk and milk products rather than depending on imports of such products from outside the region.
Under the trade liberalisation programme of SAFTA (South Asia free trade agreement), the Government has given zero duty market access for imports of milk and milk products from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives.
