The Telangana Government has said that it has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Chhattisgarh for purchasing 1000 mw of power, media reported.
As per reports, this agreement is in addition to the PPA both the states had earlier signed in November last year for 1000 mw of power.
Commenting on the issue, a Telangana Government Official told the media, ""The PPA would be in force for the next 12 years. The transmission lines for bring power from Chhattisgarh to Telangana is currently under being construction between Wardha (Maharashtra) and Dichpally (Telangana)."
The 1,000 MW power will start flowing into the state from September next year. Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) has to approve the tariff.
The state government is also willing to purchase another 1,000 MW from Chhattisgarh. However, power is not available readily with Chhattisgarh right now.
As per reports, Telangana Minister for Power Jagadish Reddy and other officials were present during the signing in ceremony.
