BlackBerry posts smaller Q3 loss

Erstwhile smartphone behemoth, BlackBerry Ltd. narrowed its Q3 losses to USD 89 million, or 17 cents a share, from USD 148 million, or 28 cents a share, in the same period a year ago.

Excluding non-recurring items, the adjusted loss per share came to 3 cents.

Non-GAAP revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2016 was USD 557 million with GAAP revenue of USD 548 million. GAAP revenue reflects a purchase accounting write down of deferred revenue associated with recent acquisitions. The non-GAAP revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 29 per cent for software and services, 31 per cent for service access fees (SAF), and 40 per cent for hardware and other revenue.


For the future, company said that it continues to anticipate positive free cash flow and adjusted EBITDA.

Meanwhile, shares of the Company closed at USD 8.61, up 10.38 per cent on the Nasdaq.
