    Gold futures closed higher in the international market on Monday but a firmer U.S. dollar kept the price move in check as global markets digested Sunday's French election.

    Although the dollar gained, U.S. stocks traded mostly lower, in line with mild losses for their European counterparts. That helped to temporarily steady battered gold's recent selloff.
