Tata Retains Top Indian Brand Tag; RIL And Airtel Follow

As per a report, Tata for the fifth year has retained its top spot as the best Indian brand.

As per the Interbrand Best Indian Brands 2017 report, Tata has for the fifth time retained its top spot as the best Indian brand for the year 2017 followed by Reliance which toppled the position of Airtel on the back of the company's success with the launch of Jio.

In the top 10 are financial services majors including HDFC at the 4th spot, LIC at 5th, SBI at 6th and ICICI Bank at 9th position. Others that complete the top 10 chart comprise Infosys which is at the 7th position and Mahindra and Godrej at 8th and 10th spot respectively.

On the company's strong run, the Brand Custodian of Tata Sons, Harish Bhat, said, "Over the past 149 years of its existence, the Tata Group has consistently kept the community at the centre of everything it does, in line with the vision of its founder, Jamsedji Tata."

"Simultaneously, Tata has remained relevant to every generation, powered by its pioneering spirit. These values make Tata a unique and powerful brand that is well regarded and much loved by all its stakeholders."

The best performers in terms of growth include Maruti, HDFC, Kotak, JSW and Reliance. Two companies, Royal Enfield at 17th spot and Ambuja Cements at 40th spot made their place in the top Indian brands list for the first time.

The top 40 Indian companies in total had a valuation of Rs 4755.7 billion which is an increase of 5% in comparison to 2016.
