Govt To Ask Airlines To Reduce Air Ticket Cancellation Charges

Jayant Sinha, aviation minister is conceptualizing the PBOR or passenger bill of rights" with all the duties and rights of flyers.

The unreasonable sum of upto Rs. 3000 as against air ticket cancellation charges for domestic bookings which in some cases can be higher than the ticket price itself is way to hefty and government citing the charges which have doubled in a year is making a call to the different carriers to reduce it to a reasonable price.

Govt To Ask Airlines To Reduce Air Ticket Cancellation Charges

In the light of the government backed Udan scheme which aims to make flying more cheaper for the common masses, the review of the said charges shall be demanded. The Udan scheme caps the charges @ Rs. 2500 for hourly travel by air.

The cancellation charges vary across airline carriers and could be as high as Rs. 4000.
In a recent past, various airlines also hiked fare for excess baggage over and above the allowed limit of 15 kg.
