With the beginning of the new year, e-commerce companies have been mandated to specify maximum retail price together with the product expiry date for packaged products. The move is aimed at checking fake discounts after inflating price of the product.

In line with the new rules, some of the e-commerce companies including leaders in the space such as Amazon, Snapdeal and Flipkart are working towards its compliance and for the same to be fully implemented in the course of their operations they will have to change their current policies with legal authorities as well as various sellers on their platforms.

 

Some of the players in the domain are still not ready to implement the change.
As per a leading business dailies report, variations in pricing of products from the actual MRP to that displayed on the e-commerce website is common with fake discounts on it.
