Now You Can Watch IRCTC Kitchens Live

|

Starting today, the Indian Railways is making live footage of food being cooked in kitchens for railway passengers available to the public on IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) website. The first of a kind initiative was introduced by the railway ministry as a move to keep a tab on the quality of food served on Indian railways and improve the consumer experience.

Now You Can Watch IRCTC Kitchens Live

The live streaming initiative was introduced by railway board chairman Ashwani Lohani. You can watch it on the IRCTC website>Gallery>videos.

Lately, the railway ministry has taken various initiatives to improve hygiene standards of food served. Live streaming of kitchens is helping the authorities monitor food quality using artificial intelligence. The IRCTC had introduced HD CCTVs to make it possible. Artificial intelligence helps detect anomalies like chefs not wearing prescribed hats, the presence of cockroaches or rodents, etc. The software automatically generates a ticket for the detected issue and sends it to the kitchen manager for appropriate action.

The website currently shows live footages from kitchens in Noida and Kota. The Noida kitchens serve around 10,000 meals a day to seventeen Rajdhani, Duronto, and Shatabdi trains. The menus for select Rajdhani and Duronto routes have also been revamped.
