Fuel Charges Should Not Form Part Of Cancellation Charges: IATA
The IATA travel agents association has demanded the government to review the air passenger's draft citizen charter as it considers that the fuel charges that form the part of air travel cancellation charges is illegitimate and violation of law.
This is due to the fact as the IATA Agents Association of India believes that when the flyer does not flies there is no "fuel burn-off.
The charter is currently under the process of consultation. Officials in the Civil Aviation Ministry reported that feedbacks received from various stakeholders were under examination.
The charter released on May 22 said that the cancellation charges should have to be printed prominently and no cancellation charges beyond the base fare and fuel surcharge should be charged to the passenger in the name of air ticket cancellation charges.

As of now different airlines, different amount as cancellation charges which has been complained by travelers on being inordinately high in some of the cases.
