Eicher Motors Reports Highest Quarterly Gain in 10 Years
Eicher Motors Ltd. reported a net profit rise of 25 percent at Rs 576.18 crore in the April-June 2018 quarter compared to Rs 459.62 crore in the same quarter last year. According to Bloomberg data, it is the Royal Enfield motorcycle maker's highest profit in nearly a decade.
In terms of operational performance, the company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), gained by 30 percent to Rs 809 crore, while operating margin widened to 31.7 percent from 31.1 percent a year ago. The numbers were driven by recent price hikes and a stronger product mix.
Total revenue from operations was up by 13 percent to Rs 2,547.75 crore from Rs 2,254.94 crore in the quarter last year. Its total income grew by 11.77 percent to Rs 2,607.36 crore from Rs 2,332.67 crore. Eicher Motors' standalone net profit was at Rs 591.22 crore, up by 19.6 percent from Rs 494.33 crore last June.
Shares of Eicher Motors closed flat at Rs 27,438.75 apiece ahead of the announcement of results.
