Committee Gets Insurance Cover Worth Rs 265 Crore for a Ganesh Idol in Mumbai
Known as the wealthiest Ganesh Mandal in Mumbai, GSB Seva Mandal in King's Circle area has opted for an insurance cover worth close to Rs 264.8 crore for this year, as per a Times of India report. The idol has been decorated with real gold and silver ornaments. The insurance coverage for the previous year was slightly lower at Rs 264.3 crore, but its highest insurance coverage remains at Rs 300 crore in the year 2016.
The report mentions that the insurance policy covers all risk aspects that include gold, silver and cash, accidental fire, earthquake and electric shock. The exhibition area and the pandals are also covered and there is standard peril policy worth Rs 35 lakh included. Apart from that, the 2,244 workers and volunteers working towards the pandal have each been covered with personal accident insurance worth Rs 10 lakh each.
In another Ganesh pandal in Daliya Sheri, Surat, Gujarat, the idol has been decked with gold, silver and diamond ornaments. While the hands and feet are plated with gold, the ears are studded with diamonds. Additionally, the pandal includes a smaller Ganesh idol that is made from gold and silver plates and studded with diamonds.
