Punjab National Bank (PNB) in a recent announcement said that it will end one of its service named as PNB Kitty from this month. In an alert issued in this respect, the country's leading bank said, "Dear PNB Kitty User, Bank has decided to discontinue the wallet. Please transfer amount lying in wallet by login into application by 30.04.2019 and close your wallet. HO PNB."
PNB Kitty is a digital wallet offering of the bank that enables its customers to carry out e-commerce transactions. And under the PNB Kitty offering, the bank issued 2 wallets namely Open Wallet and Semi-Closed Wallet that extended various exclusive services.
Through the wallet facility of PNB, customers could transact on e-commerce platform and also make various payments using the balance maintained in the wallet, thus doing away with the need to share sensitive information such as card details, net banking passwords etc. that otherwise are required in other payment modes such as debit, credit card or net banking.
PNB Kitty customers with zero balance in their wallet should immediately close their account and if there is some balance, you need to either spend it or you can also transfer it to other accounts using IMPS. "User can close wallet account only if balance is zero. If balance is not zero, user has to either spend money or send it to other accounts using IMPS", says PNB.
When the customer wants to change the registered mobile in the bank, he has to first spend the balance amount in the wallet and close the wallet. Otherwise he will not be able to change his mobile number in the branch', added the bank.
Some of the services provided as part of PNB Kitty include wallet to wallet transfer that uses mobile number of the receiver of funds; transfer from wallet to bank account using IMPS; recharge; utility bill payments etc.
