Uber Partners With IOC To Offer Discounts On Fuel To Drivers


Uber India, on Thursday, said that it has partnered with state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to offer discounts on petrol, diesel and CNG sold at IOC's fuel stations. It said that 12,000 Uber drivers have already registered for the programme.


The initiative is a part of Uber's UberCARE programme which also offers health insurance, micro loans and other benefits to its drivers.

"This partnership is targeted at easing the cost of fuel and giving back to driver partners who use the Uber App to earn a livelihood," Prabhjeet Singh, Head of Cities, Uber India and South Asia, said in a statement.

The American transportation network company launched its services in India in 2013. It has expanded its service products and network since. It operates in 31 Indian cities. It recently added Ranchi and Vijayawada to its network.

Earlier, Uber India partnered with the Indian government healthcare scheme, Ayushman Bharat, to provide healthcare benefits to its drivers.
