Fuel Prices Hiked! Now Petrol Costs Over Rs 100 in Delhi, Kolkata


After a day's pause, petrol prices in the national capital and West Bengal's capital city Kolkata have risen for the fifth time this month.


On Wednesday, the costs of diesel and petrol were raised. The cities of Delhi and Kolkata have joined the list of cities where petrol prices have surpassed Rs 100. Petrol prices in Delhi have gone up 35 paise today, while diesel prices have gone up 17 paise. Petrol prices in Delhi have risen 35 paise, while diesel prices have risen 18 paise.

Petrol prices in the national capital have risen sharply in the last 68 days, starting at Rs 90.40 per litre on May 1. Diesel rates in Delhi have risen by Rs 8.80 per litre in the last two months. The price raise on Wednesday is the 36th since state-controlled oil marketing firms (OMCs) terminated an 18-day rate freeze during the West Bengal assembly elections on May 4.

After a 39-paise increase over Tuesday's cost, Kolkata residents would have to pay Rs 100.23 for a litre of gasoline. Diesel costs Rs 92.50 per litre, up 21 paise from yesterday's price of Rs 92.27. The pump price of fuel in Chennai increased by 31 paise to Rs 101.06 a litre, up from Rs 100.75 on Tuesday. Diesel costs Rs 94.06 a litre, which is 15 paise more than the previous day's pricing.
