Wholesale Inflation Rises To 0.58% In November


India's inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at 0.58 percent in November compared to 0.16 percent in October, as per data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The rise was mainly on account of increase in prices of food articles. Primary articles inflation was at 7.68 percent when compared to 6.4 percent last month. The manufactured goods inflation remained the same at -0.84 percent. It has been in the negative zone for the third consecutive month.

Combined rural and urban food price inflation climbed 10.01 percent in November.

Retail Inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) was reported at 5.54 percent as against 4.62 percent in October, last week. CPI stayed above the Reserve Bank of India's medium-term goal of 4 percent for the second straight month. Vegetable prices rose by 36 percent in November from a year ago.
