Corona Kavach Insurance Policy:

The Corona Kavach policy is a standard coronavirus health insurance policy that covers hospital expenses, the cost of home care, ambulance costs, the cost of PPE equipment, medication, gloves, masks, doctor's fees, and intensive care costs incurred during treatment for the COVID-19 pandemic. The sum insured starts from 50,000 rupees and goes up to 5 lakh rupees. You can get your family covered by this plan which also pays for Ayush treatment in India.

Corona Rakshak Policy:

The Corona Rakshak policy is also a COVID-19 specific health insurance policy that pays for hospitalization of a minimum of 72 hours and more, as required for COVID-19 treatment in India. The policy covers expenses related to PPE, nebulizers, masks, oxygen cylinders, gloves, oximeters, AYUSH treatment, etc. which are limited by a regular health insurance policy. This COVID-19 insurance policy is available for people between the ages of 18 and 65 on a one-time insurance basis ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 Lakh. Applicants with comorbidity can also be insured by paying an additional premium.

Which Expenses are covered under corona health insurance policy?

Hospitalization costs incurred by the insured person for the treatment of COVID upon a positive diagnosis of COVID at a diagnostic centre approved by the government. This will include:

  • Room, board, nursing care costs in hospital/nursing home.
  • Doctor's consultation fees.
  • The total cost of PPE kit.
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) / Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICCU) fees.
  • Expenses incurred in road ambulance subject to a maximum of Rs.2000/- per hospitalization.
  • Home Care
  • Home treatment costs.

If your registered doctor advises you to undergo home treatment, the COVID treatment costs incurred by you will be covered for a maximum of 14 days.

Expenses for AYUSH treatment: Take treatment from AYUSH Medicine Systems for the Treatment of COVID at a government-authorized diagnostic centre, if you prefer. We will cover your expenses up to the sum insured without any sub-limit.

Pre-hospitalization medical expenses: Costs such as Covid-19 diagnostic costs, if incurred within the 15 days before the date of hospitalization/home care, will be covered.

Post-hospitalization medical expenses: Follow-up care involving expenditure within the 30 days of discharge from the hospital/end of home care is covered.

Exclusion expenses from coronavirus health insurance policy: Not all medical expenses are covered by your coronavirus health insurance policy.

Home Quarantine expenses: This policy does not cover expenses that you incur while remaining in-home quarantine.

Unrecognized Quarantine Center: If you quarantine at an unrecognized centre for coronavirus treatment, medical expenses incurred will not be covered by your policy.

Pre-existing conditions: Any medical expenses incurred for the treatment of pre-existing conditions will not be covered by this policy unless the waiting period has ended

Prenatal and Postnatal Expenses: This policy will not cover any prenatal or postnatal expenses incurred by the insured unless it leads to their hospitalization.

Hospitalization without a doctor's referral: If you are hospitalized without a referral from a qualified doctor (as stated on a prescription), this policy will not cover the costs of hospitalization.

Almost all health insurance plans have a waiting period for the first 30 days. However, some insurance providers offer a 16-day waiting period only as part of their coronavirus health insurance policy.
