The income tax department has taken several steps to simplify and ease the filing of individual income tax returns (ITRs). Here is how to pay income tax through credit cards and UPI payments.

In the e-filing portal, enter your login and password
Step-1
Select the "e-file" menu, then "e-pay tax," and finally "New payment."
Step-2
For the type of tax you want to pay, such as income tax, select "Proceed."
Step-3
Choose the assessment year and tax payment, for example, AY 2023-24 and Advance Tax, and then click "continue."
Step-4
Select the type of tax you want to pay (tax, surcharge, cess, etc.) and click "continue."
Step-5
Choose your preferred option for paying taxes from the five options presented: net banking, debit cards, pay-at-bank counters, RTGS/ NEFT, and payment gateways.
Step-6
To pay taxes, Debit/credit card, net banking, and UPI are all acceptable payment methods. Select a payment gateway and then click "Continue."
Step-7
Select either "Pay now" or "Continue."
Step-8
After agreeing to the terms and conditions, Select the mode of payment to complete the payment. The only credit cards accepted are Rupay, Visa, and Mastercard.
Step-9
After successfully payment of taxes, challan will be received. Taxpayers will receive a confirmation message to the email addresses and mobile numbers they have provided.
