Azerbaijan to export 1 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Syria
Azerbaijan, located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea at the southeast extremity of the Caucasus is planning to double gas exports to Syria. The country is also exporting to Russia, Georgia, Turkey, and Iran
The head of The Azerbaijan state oil and gas company, Rovnag Abdullayev said that beginning in 2012, Azerbaijan would export 1 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Syria, and from 2015 the export would be doubled to 2 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Commenting on the export targets and issues related to the same Abdullayev said that, "We are currently discussing this issue with BOTAS, including technical aspects and tariffs for transporting Azeri oil through Turkey. Work along these lines will be continued next year, so that we can begin exporting Azeri gas to Syria in 2012"
