Minor SIP: SIP in a child's name? Why might the SIP stop at age 18? What to do when transitioning from minor to major?

If you have started a Mutual Fund SIP in your child’s name, turning 18 brings important changes. Once a minor becomes a major, the guardian’s operating rights end and existing SIP, SWP, STP and redemption instructions may stop until the folio is updated from Minor to Major. In this video, we explain the Minor-to-Major process, KYC and PAN requirements, bank account updates, SIP mandate registration and the tax treatment of a minor’s income. We also explain what parents should prepare before the child turns 18 and important points for NRI parents.
