ITR Filing: Check For These Possible Errors In Your Aadhaar


After the recent say on Aadhaar ID, it has now been clarified regardless of elsewhere stance, aadhaar stands mandatory for successful filing of income tax return. And so in the general information being asked for filing the ITR, one needs to mandatorily provide both the details i.e. PAN as well as aadhaar. This has been made mandatory to check chances of tax evasion as well as to authenticate tax filing incidence.

And this is as per the section 139AA which asks for mandatory quoting of aadhaar number or enrollment ID during ITR filing and PAN application.

Here are listed some possible errors in the aadhaar ID which you need to check for and ensure its correctness for seamless return filing experience.

1. Your application for aadhaar should not be rejected: If it has been a case for which the registrar is also notified, you need to place the request for allotment of aadhaar with the UIDAI with all the required and verified supporting documents such as passport, PAN card, ration card, electricity bill, driving licence, certificate of marriage and voter identification card.

2. When you have lost or misplaced your aadhaar card: You need to get it reproduced by giving your key details such as the aadhaar enrolment or aadhaar number. And producing a duplicating cost entails a cost which now has to be borne for your carelessness.

If you have somehow lost your aadhaar number, you can retrieve it as well in easy to follow steps. For it either you can call UIDAI helpline number 1947 or go online on the UIDAI website and know it under the online aadhaar service. Also, there is a facility to download e-aadhaar.

3. Aadhaar's updation still not done when manual check is done: While it may be updated by you, the system still has to process the updation and it takes a maximum of 3 months or 90 days. And if it is not done by this time, then you need to contact via mail or toll free number.


And so when there is a mandate to link PAN and aadhaar, and the primary data that is tallied include gender, name and date of birth, even the slightest error or discrepancy can land you in a soup and you will not be complete the filing of return task successfully.
