You now have relief as the behemoth has come up with its own payment gateway for which it has received PCI-DSS security certificate in June 2018. IRCTC's payment aggregator is known as IRCTC-iPay.

It was earlier observed by the national transporter that the delay in ticket refunds to passengers was as a result of number of third-party apps.

But now onwards, if you select the payment via iPay the system assures of a faster refund processing. The payment gateway of the IRCTC is active on the payment page and provides all of the payment options including Credit Card, Debit Card, International Card, Auto Debit, UPI, Wallets etc.

For debit card transactions valued up to Rs. 1 lakh,, there are no charges . And for other credit card payment, the iPay payment platform charges 1.8% for credit card payments, Rs 10 + applicable taxes for net banking payments. And if payments are made using UPI, up to Rs. 2000, zero charges will be levied while in case of amounts over Rs. 2000, Rs. 10 plus applicable taxes will be charged.

Payment charges charged by the IRCTC iPay platform is the same as that of other payment gateways with the prime advantage being in case of faster refund processing.
