Aadhaar Made Mandatory For EPF E-Nomination

By Staff

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) launched an e-nomination facility for EPF account holders. The e-nomination facility allowed EPF members to nominate their family members over the organisation's e-Sewa portal. However, according to EPFO rules, Aadhaar of all the family members nominated is mandatory.

Aadhaar Made Mandatory For EPF E-Nomination

This means that to be able to use the online nomination facility, the member will not only need to have their UAN linked to Aadhaar, but also submit the Aadhaar numbers of their nominations.

Further, while making the nomination, the EPF will also have to upload scanned copies of photographs of their nominees and provide their date of birth and mobile number. There is also an optional provision to enter the nominee's bank account details.

EPFO said that the modifications have been made to make the functionality compatible with the pension claim form and nominee form.

A readily available nomination system will enable members to file online pension claims and in case of death of the account holder, his/her nominee can file an online claim using the OTP sent to his/her Aadhaar linked mobile.

You can also add EPS (Employee Pension Scheme) nomination over the system online.

The nomination process is complete after the account holder e-signs using virtual Aadhaar ID that can be generated online on the UIDAI portal.

One is also required to take a printout of the PDF file generated, sign it and submit it to the employer.
