For the FY19, the EPFO body after much deliberation has finalized the interest rate for FY 19 at 8.65%, though at first ministry of finance objected in light of the falling interest rate scenario across financial products. But as the EPFO kitty is sufficiently funded to bail out the suggested interest rate, Centre has finally given its go-ahead.

Post the notification on interest, Union Labour minister to the delight of EPF subscribers said that the EPF interest will be credited well before Diwali festivities.

But for the same, your UAN needs to be activated, which hence means if you have not still got your EPF related Universal account number you still have time to approach your employer and confirm the unique number for availing different EPF related services.

Notably for each of the EPF account holder, the EPFO body generates an UAN number which is made available on the Online Transfer Claim Portal (OTCP). For the activation or registration of UAN, following details need to be there with you:

1. UAN number
2. Member ID
3. Aadhaar number
4. PAN

And later you can cross check and verify whether the interest on EPF is credited by sending SMS text to 7738299899.
