Alexander Mamut & family: Career Highlights

Mamut's career began as a legal advisor at a printing house. In 1990, he co-founded "Business and Cooperation" Bank, which was later renamed to Commercial Bank "Imperial" in 1991. He also established the law firm "ALM-Consulting" in the same year and served as its Managing Partner until 1993.

Throughout his career, Mamut has been involved in various business ventures. He partnered with Frere Cholmeley Bischoff to establish offshore shell companies and was introduced to Igor Shuvalov by Roman Kolodkin in 1993. Shuvalov was hired as a senior advisor to ALM and conducted special assignments with offshore companies, transporting money on behalf of the firm.

Notable clients of ALM Consulting in the 1990s included influential figures such as Alisher Usmanov, Roman Abramovich, and Boris Berezovsky. Mamut also received support from Mikhail Kasyanov, head of external loans and foreign debt at the Russian Ministry of Finance.

In 1993, Mamut founded Design Bureau "Company of Project Financing" (KOPF) and served as its CEO until 1998. KOPF made a significant contribution to Boris Yeltsin's election campaign in 1996 by donating 280 million rubles.

Mamut's business ventures extended to the retail sector as well. He co-founded and served as director of Sedmoy Continent from 1993 to 1997. Additionally, he founded ALM Development and remained an investor until 2001.

Mamut held the position of Chairman of Moscow Business World (MDM-Bank) from 1999 to 2002. During this period, he made donations to Boris Yeltsin's 1996 re-election campaign and served as an economic adviser to the chief of the Russian presidential administration, Alexander Voloshin, from 1998 to 1999.

On May 31, 1999, Mamut was elected to the board of directors of Sobinbank.

In 2008, he acquired 100% of shares of Evroset from Evgeniy Chichvarkin and Timur Artemiev through "A&NN" Investment Company. He later sold 49.9% of Evroset to VimpelCom in October 2008.

Mamut's investments expanded into various sectors. He acquired 60% of Spar Moscow Holding in 2009 and purchased the "Torpedo-ZIL" football club for $1 in the same year. In 2011, he invested in Nomos-Bank and became a large investor in Ingosstrakh (insurance company) and Troika-Dialog (investment bank).

Mamut also made significant investments in Polymetal International (mining company) and PIK Group (construction company).
