Bank Holidays In July 2026: SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Other Banks To Be Closed For 12 Days This Month; City-Wise List

Indian banks will have a total of 12 holidays in July 2026. These holidays will vary from city to city. In the current month, banks will be closed due to special occasions like MHIP Day, Beh Deinkhlam, Ratha Yatra, Death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh, Kharchi Puja, and Drukpa Tshe-zi. Apart from this, banks will be shut on second and fourth Saturdays of the month, while all Sundays is a holiday. The Reserve Bank of India decides bank holidays every month depending upon the state, culture, events and festivals.

Bank Holiday On July 6:

Banks will be closed on July 6 for MHIP Day, which is an important event for citizens in Mizoram. This day is in honour of the state's largest women's organization, Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl.

Accordingly, banks will be closed in cities like Aizawl.

Bank Holiday On July 9:

Banks will be closed in cities like Shillong on July 9 due to Beh Deinkhlam, which is celebrated by Pnar people of Meghalaya. As per Wikipedia, it is the largest festival of the practitioners of the Niamtre religion and is dedicated to a good harvest and a year of plenty. The biggest Behdienkhlam festivities are conducted in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills district and in Tuber Kmai, Jaintia hills.

In the other cities, banks will remained open.

Bank Holiday On July 16:

On this day, banks will be closed in cities like Bhubaneswar, Dehradun and Imphal for Ratha Yatra/Kang (Rathajatra)/Harela.

Harela 2026:

Harela is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and mainly in Mahasu region of Himachal Pradesh. This festival is very popular in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, and is celebrated by the name Harela, as per Wikipedia.

Ratha Yatra 2026:

Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026 falls on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The date is fixed by the Hindu lunar calendar, not the Gregorian one, so it shifts each year. It always lands on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya - the second day of the bright fortnight of the month of Ashadha, as per StayVista.

Bank Holiday On July 17

Once again, banks will be closed in Shillong on July 17 due to death anniversary of U Tirot Singh, who was a freedom fighter against Britishers for four years alongside Gorkhas but was imprisoned and died in Dhaka.

Bank Holiday On July 18

Banks will be closed on July 18 for Drukpa Tshe-zi in cities like Gangtok.

As per Sikkim government website, Drukpa Tshe-zi is one of most auspicious and significant occasion for Buddhists all over the world. This auspicious day falls on the 4th day (Tshe-zi) of the 6th month (Drukpa) of the Tibetan lunar calendar. It marks the day on which Lord Buddha gave his first sermon on the Four Noble Truths to his first five disciples in the Deer Park at Sarnath, more than 2500 years ago, after attaining enlightenment.

Bank Holiday On July 22

Banks will be closed in cities like Agartala for Kharchi Puja. As per Wikipedia, Kharchi Puja is a Hindu festival from Tripura, India. Performed in Agartala in July or August, the festival involves the worship of the fourteen gods forming the dynasty deity of the Tripuri people. Kharchi Puja is one of the most popular festivals in Tripura.

Bank Holidays On July 11 & July 25

Banks will be closed on July 11th and 25th as they are second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

As per the guidelines, banks are open on two Saturdays and closed on two Saturdays of every month. All Sundays are bank holidays, though. The only two Saturdays when banks are closed are the second and fourth of every month. If there are five Saturdays in a month, then the last fifth Saturday is a working day for banks.

Therefore, all banks-whether private, public, cooperative, regional or foreign-are closed on these two days. These also include major banks like SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Bank of Baroda, among others.

On the second and fourth Saturdays, several payments system will not be operational. These typically include Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT), and Cheque Clearing operated by various Bankers' Clearing Houses in the country, including the grid-based Cheque Truncation System (CTS) and ECS suite [Electronic Clearing Service (ECS), Regional Electronic Clearing Service (RECS) and National Electronic Clearing Service (NECS)].

Bank Holidays on July 6, July 12, July 19 & July 26

These dates are Sundays and all banks will be closed.
