What Gets Cheaper? Check Full List
| Category | Union Budget 2026-2027 cheaper items | Union Budget 2026-2027 costlier items |
|---|---|---|
| Consumer goods | Microwave ovens, smartphones, tablets, some personal-use imports | Luxury watches, imported alcohol, coffee roasting, brewing and vending machines |
| Industry and energy | EV batteries, solar panels, aircraft parts, leather inputs | Imported television and filming equipment, specialised cameras |
| Agriculture and health | 17 essential drugs, including for diabetic and cancer patients | Ammonium phosphate, ammonium nitro-phosphate fertilisers |
Health-Related Items
Lower customs duties announced for selected imports like health care, clean energy, electronics, and aviation components. Hence, people can expect some decline in imported healthcare items.
Medicines
Additionally, around 17 drugs, including medicines for diabetic patients and cancer patients, are likely to get cheaper in the coming days.
Smartphones, Tablets
Smartphones and tablets made in India are also expected to get cheaper as some imported items meant for personal use are also expected to see falling prices with reduced tariffs.
Luxuru Items
Lower customs duties are planned for selected imports, especially in health care, clean energy, electronics, and aviation components. At the same time, higher duties are set on luxury watches, imported alcohol, certain fertilisers, and specialised electronic and filming equipment.
What Gets Costlier?
Luxury watches and imported alcohol are also among the key items that are set to be costlier.
Coffee Roasting, Brewing Vending Machines
The government has withdrawn exemptions for coffee roasting, brewing, and vending machines. This step is expected to raise the price of such equipment, which is often used by cafes, restaurants, and office spaces. Users of imported coffee machines may therefore face higher investment or replacement costs once the new duties apply.
Fertiliser Inputs
Fertiliser inputs are also impacted, as exemptions on import fees for Ammonium phosphate and ammonium nitro-phosphate have been removed. These chemicals are used in producing manure and complex fertilisers, so their higher cost may affect manufacturing expenses for fertiliser producers that depend on imported raw materials.
Electronics Linked To Media, Broadcasting
The Budget further targets specialist electronics linked to media and broadcasting. Imported television equipment, cameras, and other devices used for film shooting are expected to become more expensive. Additionally, photographic, filming, and sound recording equipment brought from abroad may see higher prices due to increased customs duties on these items.
