Melody Share Mania: Parle Industries Shares Hit Upper Circuit After PM Modi Gifts Melody Toffee to PM Meloni
Shares of Parle Industries surged to the upper circuit on Tuesday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a packet of Melody toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during his visit to Italy, reigniting the hugely popular "Melodi" trend across social media.
Parle Share Price Today
As of 2:55 PM IST on May 20, shares of Parle Industries were locked at the 5% upper circuit at Rs 5.25, up Rs 0.25 for the day. The stock opened at Rs 4.95, touched an intraday low of Rs 4.84, and climbed to a high of Rs 5.25.
The company had a market capitalisation of approximately Rs 25.64 crore, while its price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stood at 47.73.

Why Did Parle Industries Shares Jump?
The excitement began after a light-hearted video from Modi's Italy visit spread rapidly online. In the clip, the Indian Prime Minister is seen presenting Melody toffees to Meloni, a gesture that instantly revived the playful "#Melodi" nickname coined by internet users for the two leaders.
Meloni later reposted the video on X with the message, "Thank you for the gift." In the same clip, she can be heard saying, "He gifted... a very, very good toffee," prompting laughter from both leaders. The video attracted widespread attention and quickly became one of the day's most talked-about moments.
#Melodi Trends Reaches Dalal Street As PM Modi Gifts 'Melody' Toffee to Italian PM Meloni
As the clip gained traction, speculative buying emerged in Parle Industries, with many retail traders seemingly assuming the company was linked to Melody toffees. Even though Parle Industries has no business relationship with the Melody brand, traders rushed to buy the stock after associating its name with the iconic confectionery.
Melody Share Price? Who Actually Makes Melody Toffees?
The Melody brand is manufactured by Parle Products, the privately held fast-moving consumer goods giant behind household brands such as Parle-G, Monaco, KrackJack, Mango Bite and Poppins.
Importantly, Parle Products is not listed on the stock exchange, meaning investors cannot directly buy shares in the company that actually manufactures Melody.
Parle Industries, despite sharing the "Parle" name, is a completely separate listed entity and has no operational connection to the confectionery maker.
Parle VS Parle: A Classic Case of Market Confusion
It has become a textbook example of how social media trends and name similarities can create sharp, short-term moves in lesser-known stocks. On Dalal Street, small-cap and penny stocks are often swept up in speculative enthusiasm when investors mistakenly associate them with trending brands, events, or corporate developments.
In this case, the emotional appeal of the Melody gift and the viral "Melodi" meme proved enough to drive strong buying interest, despite the absence of any fundamental trigger.
What Does Parle Industries Do?
Parle Industries was incorporated in 1983 as Express Bottlers Services Pvt Ltd and was later renamed Parle Software Ltd. Initially promoted by the Parle-Bisleri group, the company now functions independently and operates across infrastructure, real estate, and paper waste recycling.
While the business has evolved significantly from its origins, it bears no direct connection to Parle Products or its well-known confectionery portfolio.
