The Indian stock market opened higher on Thursday, October 23, with the Sensex gaining over 727 points to open at 85,154.15 and the Nifty beginning the day above the 26,000 mark.
The performance of the major Asian stock markets appeared to be mostly down during the early trading session. The Nikkei 225 in Japan was down more than 1.30%, the Shanghai Composite Index in China was down 0.75%, and the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index was down quite a bit.
With several major companies like Hindustan Unilever, Colgate Palmolive (India), and Laurus Labs set to release their financial results for the September quarter today, the domestic market will be driven by the Q2 results season.
