HDFC Bank customers pay attention! The private lender is set to revise charges of its Insta Alert SMS charges in May 2026. The new changes are likely to benefit customers and minimise costs for customers who track account activity by text.
Here are all the details about HDFC Bank's latest update on charges for SMS services.
HDFC Bank Insta Alert SMS Charges
HDFC Bank is set to reduce its Insta Alert SMS Charges from May 1, 2026. The rate per message will move from 20 paise plus GST to 15 paise plus GST, while email alerts for the same service will stay completely free.

Apart from SMS alert service, the bank has kept email notifications at zero cost, which gives account holders a cheaper way to watch transactions. SMS alert services is an easier way to track bank account updates for customers who are not very tech friendly or do not have constant internet access.
HDFC Bank Revises Insta Alert SMS Charges: How Much It Will Cost To Customers?
As per the revised HDFC Bank Insta Alerts SMS charges structure, customers who opt for text alerts will pay less each month. If customers received 100 SMS alerts, they were required to pay Rs 20 plus GST, at 20 paise per message. From May 1, 2026 onwards, they would be required to pay Rs 15 (plus GST) for 100 SMS, based on the revised rates.
This reduction means a saving of about Rs 5 per month on 100 messages, with higher savings for heavier SMS users. Insta Alerts help customers spot unauthorised activity quickly. Instant notifications allow regular checks on balances, card spends and transfers without visiting a branch or ATM for updates.
