As of May 2025, several major Indian banks including SBI, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Indian Bank are offering special Fixed Deposit (FD) schemes with higher interest rates, especially for senior citizens. State Bank of India is offering Amrit Vrishti scheme, Canara Bank offers a 444-day special FD, Bank of Baroda has introduced the Square Drive Deposit Scheme, and Indian Bank features the IND SECURE deposit.
These limited-time FDs, with unique tenures like 444 or 400 days, offer better returns than regular FDs.

However, with the RBI's recent rate cut, these high-interest schemes may soon be withdrawn. Since FD rates often follow policy changes, investors should consider locking in these rates before the offers end.
What is a Special FD?
A special FD is a time-bound fixed deposit scheme with a unique tenure, such as 444 days, 400 days, or 300 days and typically offers higher interest rates than standard FDs. These schemes are designed by banks to attract deposits for specific durations and are available only for a limited period.
