In anticipation of International Women's Day, Telangana's government will introduce various initiatives aimed at empowering women, including subsidised autorickshaws and solar power projects. These efforts reflect a commitment to enhancing women's economic independence and social status across the state.
In anticipation of International Women's Day on March 8, the state government is set to introduce several empowerment initiatives for women, headlined by a plan to provide subsidized autorickshaws to those who have completed government-sponsored driving training. This announcement is expected to be made in Hyderabad by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, marking a significant step towards enhancing women's mobility and economic independence.

A comprehensive array of schemes aimed at bolstering women's roles in society will be unveiled during the festivities, including the ambitious 'Indira Mahila Shakti-2025' policy. These plans were discussed in a high-level review meeting led by Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. The officials have been tasked with organizing the event at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad, aiming to highlight the contributions of rural women to Telangana's economy.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will grace the event as the chief guest, with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other dignitaries in attendance. During the celebrations, the Chief Minister will remotely initiate the foundation-laying for solar power projects managed by women's groups across each district. These initiatives include the formal inauguration of 64 megawatts of solar power across all 32 districts and the signing of agreements allowing women's self-help groups to lease buses to the TGSRTC.
"During the event, the CM will virtually lay the foundation stone for solar power plants to be set up by women's groups in each district. Additionally, 64 megawatt solar plants will be formally inaugurated in all 32 districts. Agreements will be signed to lease buses purchased by women's self-help groups (SHG) to the TGSRTC."
Moreover, the government will disburse accident insurance cheques totalling ₹40 crore to the families of 400 SHG members who have suffered accidents. This is part of a broader effort to provide financial security to women and their families. The event will also mark the beginning of recruitment for over 14,000 positions for Anganwadi teachers and helpers, further demonstrating the government's commitment to strengthening the support system for women and children.
In addition to these measures, the government intends to expand the network of petrol stations operated by women's groups. Following the model implemented in Narayanpet districts, partnerships will be forged with major oil corporations like BPCL, HPCL, and IOCL to establish petrol stations in the remaining 31 districts. This move aims to empower women economically and encourage their participation in the business sector.
Minister Anasuya has also directed officials to conduct a comprehensive review of women's welfare policies across various states to develop a leading women's empowerment policy in India. This reflects the government's aim to not only celebrate women's achievements but also to lay down a solid foundation for their future growth and empowerment.
As the government gears up to celebrate International Women's Day with grandeur, these initiatives signal a significant push towards enhancing women's economic and social status in the state. By providing resources and opportunities for women to thrive, the government is setting a precedent for women's empowerment across the country.
