Aadhaar card: How can NRIs apply for one?

Recently, the government has announced that it will issue aadhaar card for NRIs as this will provide valid identity to the NRIs in different countries. Earlier, it was only for resident Indians.

There are certain steps to be followed and documents to be submitted by the NRIs.

Identification

A NRI has to submit the documents which establish him as an NRI. Along with that he has to submit documents like birth certificate, school certificate and other photo identity card.

He has to produce documents related to his stay in foreign country.

Biometric Information required

Photo: Here, your photograph will be taken by web cam at aadhaar center which will be added to your overall documents.

10 finger prints: The official will do biometric scanning of ten fingers which is necessary to establish perfect identity. For this person has to visit aadhaar enrollment center.

Iris: Along with finger scan your iris will be scanned further which will help in avoiding duplicity.
