Can Aadhaar Card Be Availed For Kids Or Children?

Aadhaar Card has become a necessity and is good for ease of opening any account without much hassle. Individuals having Aadhaar Card should be happy as the govt is encouraging Aadhaar as a complete identity and address proof.

When banks and financial institution ask for KYC confirmation, submitting Aadhaar will be of great help.

Parents who are interested in having Aadhaar Card for their kids can apply for the same. However, the age of the kid should be above 1 year.

Note that for children below 5 years no biometrics will be captured.

Their UID will be processed on the basis of demographic information and facial photograph linked with the UID of their parents.
These children will need to be re-enrolled with biometrics of ten fingers, iris and facial photograph, when they turn 5.
Their biometrics will be updated once they turn 15. Intimation to this effect will be mentioned in the original Aadhaar letter.

• Either of parents who hold a Aadhaar card or who have already enrolled for the same can introduce their kid.
• Cases where parents and kid both are applying at the same time, kids will be processed only once the parents Aadhaar enrollment is generated.
