According to new passport application here is no need of birth certificate and Aadhar card can ben accepted as a proof of date of birth (DOB).
Don't worry if you don't have a Date of Birth certificate. Aadhar or E-aadhar with Date of Birth will now be accepted as a proof as per the new rules for getting a passport, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced. Before all of the applicants were required to submit their birth certificates as a proof of date of birth.
The MEA has taken a number of liberalized measures in the passport policy to ease the process of issue of passport. Now, all applicants of passports can submit any one of the following documents as the proof of DOB while submitting the passport application:
1. Birth certificate
Issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths or the Municipal Corporation or any other prescribed authority whosoever has been empowered under the Registration of Birth & Deaths Act, 1969 to register the birth of a child born in India
2. Transfer/school leaving/Matriculation certificate
Issued by the school last attended/recognized educational board containing the DOB of the applicant.
3. PAN card
PAN Card issued by the Income Tax Department and a copy of the extract of the service record of the applicant (only in respect of Government servants)
4. Aadhar card/E-Aadhar having the DOB of applicant
The 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Indian government can be used as a proof for the date of birth of the applicant.
5. Pay pension order
Copy of the extract of the service record of the applicant (only in respect of Government servants) or the Pay Pension Order (in respect of retired Government Servants), duly attested/certified by the officer/in-charge of the Administration of the concerned Ministry/Department of the applicant, having his DOB can used as a proof.
6. Driving licence
Document such as Driving license issued by the Transport Department of concerned State Government, having the DOB of an applicant is enough as a proof to apply for the passport.
7. Election photo identity card (EPIC)
Election photo identity card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission of India having the DOB of the applicant can be used while applying for the passport.
8. Policy bond
Policy bond issued by the Public life insurance corporations/companies having the DOB of the holder of the insurance policy will also function as a proof.
