Reminder: Know These Five Aadhaar Linking Deadline

Aadhaar, the 12-digit unique identity number is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). In the last few months government has made it compulsory to link various process with Aadhaar number. Your degrees, your kid's school admission, your tax return, your PAN card, your mobile phone number, EPF, PPF everything needs to be linked with Aadhaar number.

There are different deadlines for each of these. Have a look at all these deadlines here.

1. Aadhaar PAN Linking

Last date is December 31, 2017.
The CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) has extended the last date for linking of Aadhaar with PAN "to facilitate ease of compliance by the taxpayers." The new deadline is December 31, 2017, while the former one was August 31, 2017.Linking Aadhaar-PAN is mandatory for processing of income tax returns (ITRs) for the assessment year 2017-18. Section 139 AA (2) of the Income Tax Act says that every person having PAN as on July 1, 2017, and eligible to obtain Aadhaar, must intimate his Aadhaar number to the tax authorities

People those categorized as non-resident Indians as per the Income Tax laws, people who are not citizens of India, those above 80 years of age and residents of the states of Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir had been exempt from the requirement

 

2. Aadhaar Mobile Phone Linking

Last date is February 2017.
The Department of Telecommunication made it mandatory for all telecom subscribers to re-verify existing customers through the Aadhaar-based E-KYC process. All mobile numbers will have to be linked to Aadhaar numbers. The directive applies to both prepaid and postpaid users. All mobile phone numbers not linked with Aadhaar will be deactivated after February 2018. 3. Aadhaar-bank account linking

Last date is December 31, 2017.
The government has made it mandatory for all banks and financial institutions to link Aadhaar number to thier bank accounts.The banks should mention the Aadhaar details of clients in the KYC (Know your Customer) document. A KYC document basically provides all the details that authenticate the identity of a user. People who have taken loans are also supposed to file their Aadhaar details. If you already have a bank account, you must link it with an Aadhaar number by December 31 or else it will be frozen. It will be available you only after you supply the bank with a valid Aadhaar number.

4. Social Security Schemes

Last date is December 31, 2017.
12 digit Aadhaar number has to be provided for availing all social security schemes by December 31, 2017. In order to avail your pension, LPG cylinders or government scholarships, you must provide his Aadhaar card details.

5. Aadhaar-EPF linking

Last date is September 30, 2017.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar numbers to PF accounts. The deadline for submission of Aadhaar number would be 30 September 2017 in case of north-east states only. How To Link Aadhaar With Your EPF Account Online?
