The insurance regulatory body Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has made it mandatory for all insurance policyholders to link their Aadhaar and PAN details to their insurance policies.

In case if you don't have a PAN card, Form 60 must be furnished to comply with this requirement.

IRDAI asked insurers general and life to implement the rules without awaiting further instructions. An Aadhaar-insurance policy linkage is mandated under the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017.

The policyholders can approach their respective insurance agents to seed Aadhaar with the insurance policy. If you can't meet the agent, you can walk into the nearest branch office of the insurance company with your Aadhaar card to carry out the linking.The policy holder needs to submit a self-attested copy of Aadhaar to complete the process.

 

Note

12 digit Aadhaar card number is required to be captured at the proposal stage itself for all new policies. To avail the online linking facility, the mobile number of the policyholder must be registered with the Aadhaar database.

Deadline

The deadline for linking Aadhaar and insurance is December 31, 2017. There are reportedly 24 life insurance companies and 33 general insurers; all policy holders have to follow this instruction. Warning: Don't Share Aadhaar Details Via SMS Says LIC

Online linking

The insurance policy holders can log in to the customer service portal of their insurance company and key in the relevant details. Non-registered users simply have to fill up a registration form first to generate their login ID. How To Link Aadhaar To Your Insurance Policy Online?
