How To Update Address In Aadhaar Card Without Address Proof?
In a bid to ease the hassle of aadhaar cardholders who migrate frequently or change their house, the UIDAI now allows change of address in aadhaar card of the holder, even without original address proof. All an aadhaar card holder needs to produce is an address validation letter which can be obtained from the address lender or verifier who thus would allow use of his or her aadhaar-registered address to be used by the resident.
And the address validation letter can be done by the landlord for the place where you currently put up or a family member, relative or friend.
Process of updating aadhaar card with new address but without address proof
After obtaining consent from the address verifier, you have to visit the portal of UIDAI for the generation of an address validation letter. This is done after you log-into your account using aadhaar number. It is to be noted that the letter that includes a secret code will be sent to the address of the verifier.
After the verifier has received the address validation letter by post. Hereafter the user needs tp log in again and enter the secret code by clicking on 'proceed to update address' in the UIDAI portal.
It is to be noted that of all other variables, only the address in aadhaar card can be changed online while for other parameters such as name, gender, relation, mobile, date of birth, and email, the person is required to be present in physical at the UIDAI update or enrollment centre. Also, after changing the address, the user can download the e-Aadhaar card online.
