Umang App has been undertaken by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National Division of e-Governance (NeGD), it enables an individual to view / access various customer-centric facilities such as PAN, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, gas booking, mobile bill payment, electricity bill payment, and even EPF account. You can access information of all the above-listed services via the UMANG app without installing separate applications. And you can install / run the Umang across all types of devices such as mobile, tablets and desktops.

 

A major benefit of the app is being able to use it for services related to EPF from the comfort of your home during the current COVID-19 pandemic. By using this app you can get all details related to your EPF account during your employment with different employers. But in order to use this facility, you must have an active UAN (Universal Account Number) and a mobile number registered with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). In case you don't have an active UAN, you need to visit EPFO portal and click on the 'Activate UAN' option, and then you have to fill all the required details such as Name, DOB, Mobile number etc. Once you enter all details, enter the captcha code on the required field and click on 'Get Authentication PIN'. Now enter the PIN generated on your mobile number on the required field and click on 'Validate OTP' to activate your UAN.

 

Now you can check your EPF account balance through the UMANG App by covering the steps listed below.

Step.1 Open the UMANG App in your mobile / tablet and tap on the 'EPFO' tab

Step.2 Now EPFO homepage will appear where you will the services like: Employer-Centric Services, Employee-Centric Services, General Services and Pensioner Services.

Step.3 Tap on the 'Employee-Centric Services' option and proceed further

Step.4 Now under the menu of 'Employee-Centric Services' you will get two options which are: 'View Passbook' and 'Raise Claim'

Step.5 Tap on the 'View Passbook' option in order to check your account balance

Step.6 Now a login section will appear where you need to enter your UAN number and tap on the 'Get OTP' option to receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Be sure that your registered mobile number is working at that specific period and that it has to be with you as you'll only get two minutes to authenticate the OTP.

Step.7 Once your OTP is verified you can check the complete details of your EPF account. In addition, click on the Employer Specific tab to view the balance and details of all the employers.

Step.8 Under the same section, you will get the details of the deposits made towards your EPF account during the employment period with a particular employer. And even you also download your EPF Passbook directly to your device.
